Guy Edwards and John Millar, both experienced climbers from Vancouver, disappeared on the 2,000-metre face in mid-April 2003, during a week of unsettled weather and frequent.

Devils Thumb is a magnificent tower in the Indian Peaks Wilderness. In contrast to the most of the Indian Peaks, Devils Thumb can only be reached by 5th class climbing (at least two pitches). Devils Thumb is more of a sub-peak than an individual mountain in itself, but it bears little resemblance to its neighbors in appearance and difficulty.

Devils Thumb, or Taalkhunaxhkʼu Shaa in Tlingit, is a mountain in the Stikine Icecap region of the Alaska-British Columbia border, near Petersburg.It is named for its projected thumb-like appearance. Its name in the Tlingit language means "the mountain that never flooded" and is said to have been a refuge for people during Aangalakhu ("the Great Flood").
