The Who album, The Who Sell Out was the band's third album. The record was released in 1967. The album cover stands as one of our favorite Who album covers of all time. The band was taking a stand against artists selling out. (If only they could have fast forwarded forty years in the future to the opening of the television show C.S.I.)

The band had been tossing around ideas for an album cover for a while. Rejected ideas included Keith Moon dressed up as a woman, or in S&M gear, and a naked heavy-set woman with her privates replaced with photos of the band members. Some photos were taken by Russell, including a photoshoot with Moon in various outfits (see images below).

The Who announce the release of their new album 'WHO' plus UK Tour

Who's Next is the fifth studio album by the English rock band the Who, released on 2 August 1971. It developed from the aborted Lifehouse project, a multi-media rock opera conceived by the group's guitarist Pete Townshend as a follow-up to the band's 1969 album Tommy.

06. David Bowie โ€” "I Can't Explain". One of two Who covers on 1973's Pin Ups, this laid-back, almost parochial take on "I Can't Explain" brings an unmistakable cool to the band's first hit single. Bowie's vocals on this album have been infamously maligned by critics over the years, but factor in Ken Fordham's baritone sax and Mick Ronson's.
